Employee wellbeing and progress monitoring

by iyarn

Check in solution to monitor employee wellbeing and drive better outcomes

What is iyarn?

iyarn is an Australian company that has developed a digital platform for people in workplaces to ‘check in’ on their wellbeing. It’s a tool for monitoring and managing issues such as stress, sleep, fitness and mental health. iyarn’s has been operating in organisations across Australia since 2018 to promote and support wellbeing.
Digital check ins are fast and simple, taking no more than 30 seconds and are designed to be repeated on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis, creating rich data and a powerful, regular conversation starter.

How does an iyarn check in work?

Managers or team leaders identify and customise which ‘segments’ are influential to the organisation that the employees will be checking in on. Segments can range from health and stress to team work and vision, giving companies a holistic understanding of their workplace. On average, it takes less than 30 seconds for a team member to check in. Using clear and colourful graphics, iyarn provides an interactive overview of the individual’s ‘segments’ showcasing their wellbeing journey.

These check ins provide the business leaders with live data and insights from the employees. What gets measured, gets improved. By tracking the important aspects that drive team performance, productivity and culture, you can focus on improving them over time.

How are businesses implementing iyarn?

Uber
Uber wanted to make their assessments a more frequent exercise that would unlock the next level of team performance. The intent was to spark conversations that connected team leaders and team members and helped each on their journey of professional development.
iyarn set out to simplify how Uber conducted its quarterly competency appraisals and developed a custom check in system focused on effectively and efficiently delivering employee and manager feedback in real-time.
“The conversations were much more direct. iyarn really added direction and structure.” - Manager, Uber ANZ

WA Institute of Sport
WAIS incorporated iyarn as a performance management tool for a dozen athletes in the Canoe program.
“Overall the group responded well to using iyarn. Athlete reflections would often align with my observations in a daily training environment, but iyarn helped to open up a number of discussions with athletes in those areas behaviours that I wouldn’t ordinarily see. Regular discussions about how this athlete was feeling lead to the athlete seeking professional help. This athlete has rebounded amazingly well and is going as well as ever. This kind of support highlights the importance of getting on the front foot with these discussions.” - Head Coach Ramon Andersson

Skill Hire- Training, Staffing, & Employment Services
Skill Hire has been using iyarn to check in on their apprentices for the past couple of years.
“[iyarn] is a way to get more clarity on what’s happening in [the apprentice’s] world…they might want to talk about it, but they’re not sure about how to start that conversation with the career coaches. It’s a safe and easy way to open up that conversation about it with them and gives participants a place to say if they aren’t feeling very confident or safe. “It’s been a big eye opener for the career coaches when the apprentices are saying they’re ‘fine’ but the check in results are saying something different.” - Transition to Work Business Manager– Great Southern
Skill Hire also uses iyarn as a way to check in on career coaches and evaluate their programs,
“We can look at the iyarn data and ask [career coaches], “How are you helping them build up their scores? We’ve used the data to ask other team members for specific advice about how to help each individual. At the end of the day we can look at the data and ask, “Are we doing everything we can?” - Business Manager TtW– Wheatbelt
