Verify Ownership of Digital Assets more Effectively and Efficiently

With the rise in mainstream acceptance and use-cases in crypto-based currency and tokens (i.e. digital tokens), the need to securely prove and verify ownership of digital tokens for organizations and individuals will become important. This need can be in the form of:

Financial statements and reporting. We expect that digital tokens will start to form a material part of many financial institutions’, fintech enterprises’ and corporations’ assets and these digital assets will start to feature more prominently in their financial statements and reporting. The assertions of existence, ownership, classification and related risks and liabilities will need to be properly verified by independent audits.

Internal Controls. Internal audit teams of financial institutions and other enterprises regulated by MAS will need to review exposure, track transaction details, verify proper controls, etc for digital tokens that are received, stored, or transferred.

Recovery of assets. In the event of fraud or cyber-related incident where digital tokens need to be re-instated to the rightful owner, the need to prove genuine ownership will need to be carried out.
