IT on-premises cost vs. Cloud cost - The primary difference between On-premises IT Cost and cloud cost is the need to pre-order the infrastructure. In our On-prem environment, we used to buy ahead IT infrastructure and licenses to support future growth. In our new Cloud environment, this approach is obsolete. One can control IT cloud footprint on the fly. The second major difference is who controls those purchases, in IT on-prem environment purchase was executed by the IT infrastructure team; however, in the cloud environment, the ownership was moved to the developers. This move provides enhanced flexibility but introduces a new risk of losing control of IT spending.
