What is a Bowtie Diagram?

Bowtie diagrams present situations where a hazard materialises into an event with potential for harm. They are a key tool for managing risks, and are widely used in transportation and across many industries, especially those where process safety is a priority.

There may be multiple possible causes which may result in the same dangerous situation, and often multiple possible outcomes from the same event. The bowtie diagram illustrates these, and also portrays what controls you have in place, either to:

• Make the event less likely; or
• Reduce the impact, if it does occur.

Easy to use and share

Our approach is to make it easy for you to develop and share your analysis, using a technology which you likely already have at your workplace. It is simple to control who can read or edit the diagrams, using out-of-the-box functionality.

The free version of this web part gives you the tools you need to create unlimited starter diagrams. If you need to create large diagrams, or access advanced features such as import/export and reporting, then contact us for a licence key.

Deployment notes

1. Add it to your Apps site and 'enable'
2. Add the solution manually on each site where you need to use it
3. Place the web part on a standard SharePoint Site Page
4. In Web Part Properties, select Data Source
5. In Web Part Properties, enter licence key for additional features
